About Us

We first opened in 1929 with a small resort and convenience store. In the 95 years since, we've made a few changes. The highway widened, forcing us the close the store, but the resort remained open. We've also remodeled the cabins to keep them up to date.

Kiefer's Pine Grove Resort has been family owned and operated for all four generations since we opened, and we take pride in the fact that 90% of our business is returning families.

We have an excellent, safe, sandy beach which is ideal for swimming. Water skiing is allowed on the Round Lakes. We are located on Little Round Lake and are connected to Big Round Lake by a navigable channel. This gives our guests almost twenty miles of lakeshore to fish and boat on. The Round Lakes are crystal clear and one of the most requested lakes in the Hayward area.

For the fisherman's delight, Round Lakes are noted for walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, bass, crappie, and panfish. There are many bays and inlets where fishing is good even on windy days. We have a screened-in building for cleaning fish.

Each cabin has a private pier and boat. There is a sandbox by the beach, as well as a playground. The grounds are lit at night with floodlights.

There are churches of most denominations in the area, and many points of interest for you and your family's enjoyment: Wilderness Walk Zoo & Western Town for children of all ages; The National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, with fishing memorabilia and a tribute to the world record Musky; The Lumberjack Bowl, featuring regular shows as well as the Lumberjack World Championships; Hayward Amusement Center, with rock-climbing and go-karts.   Hayward boasts a vibrant downtown, loaded with interesting local shops, as well as Musky Festival in June and Fall Festival in September. There are excellent golf courses and tennis courts within a short driving distance, a movie theater in Hayward, and horse riding stables. For those interested in dining out, the Hayward area is noted for excellent, affordable restaurants. There are currently three restaurants within a short walk from the resort.

Plan a fall vacation and combine a fishing trip with the beauty of brilliant autumn scenery. Rates are discounted after Labor Day. We're sorry, we do not furnish towels. Please bring your own. For the comfort of all our guests, we do not allow pets. No smoking inside. To avoid disappointment,  reservations should be made in advance stating the number in your party and the length of the stay. Weeks run from Saturday to Saturday.
